Seawind (1995) features a lonesome woman in a detailed interior space. She gazes longingly into the distance amid the evening breeze. Women are frequently depicted by Montgomery in highly detailed interior spaces. These works explore notions such as female responsibility, creativity, and desire. Inspired by Islamic art practice, the layers of wallpaper, patterns, and textures also contribute to these narratives. Montgomery explains, “I think my work has evolved to equalise human drama/narrative with colour, pattern, design and narrative.”
