The subject of Tupperware Party (2013) is a suited man who breastfeeds a baby with milk-filled teats that hang from a strap around his neck. The juxtaposition of the subject’s formal clothing with fake breasts is intended to create  a sense of the absurd. Humour is an important artistic device for Strauss, who explains: ‘For me it [humour] seems like a very superior way to communicate anything important, because it sears through so much rubbish. One can quickly get to the heart of things.’ The blue and grey suit and tie  combined with the pink straps of the breastfeeding device highlights the insignificance of gendered colours once overridden by the importance of parenthood. . The idea that men can lactate is an interesting one for Strauss, raising questions about gender and nature.
