Biography

Dr Dongxiao Niu is Assistant Professor in Real Estate Finance at the Department of Land Economy. Her work sits at the intersection of real estate finance, urban economics, and environmental risk, with a particular emphasis on how climate change is reshaping real estate markets and urban development.

Before joining Cambridge, Dongxiao held postdoc positions at the MIT Center for Real Estate and the Department of Finance at Maastricht University. She received her PhD in Urban Economics from Tsinghua University, where her work explored transportation network and urban housing dynamics in rapidly developing cities.

Her research has been published in various academic journals, including Real Estate Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Urban Studies, Journal of Regional Science, and China Economic Review. Her recent work investigates the pricing of climate risks in real estate transactions and the financial implications of green building standards. She is also actively involved in interdisciplinary projects examining the role of urban form and policy in shaping equitable and resilient cities.
