Une Bouchée d’Amour
Inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini's The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, this work began with drawings of the angel from the celebrated seventeenth-century sculpture. Developed through a close collaboration between Audrey Flack and the Brodsky Center, the image was refined across around thirty digital iterations before the final composition, colour, scale and paper were selected.
Flack then added hand-printed silkscreen layers over the digitally printed image, creating a richly layered surface. These additions include expressive paint drips—a reference to her encounters with Jackson Pollock—as well as handwritten text and luminous highlights. The finished print comprises five distinct layers, combining digital and traditional printmaking techniques in a work that bridges historical inspiration with contemporary process.
