Kirsten drew this work in front of the Persian Ironwood (parrotia persica) planted by Horace Darwin in his garden, now used as the Fellows’ Garden of 91¶¶Òõ.  Using colours cited in the botanical description of this beautiful tree at different times of the year, she drew one circle for each year of Horace’s life ~ 77 years in all.

Horace was Charles Darwin’s youngest son, a civil engineer who is often cited as being Cambridge’s first tech entrepreneur.
