Judith K. Brodsky
Judith K. Brodsky is Distinguished Professor Emerita of Visual Arts at Rutgers University and a pioneering figure in feminist art, printmaking, and arts education. During her career at Rutgers, she founded the Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper (now the Brodsky Center at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts), which has hosted more than 400 artists in residence and is renowned for its commitment to inclusivity.
A leading advocate for women in the arts, Brodsky chaired the National Women's Caucus for Art, founded the Rutgers Institute for Women and Art (now the Douglass College Center for Women in the Arts), and established The Feminist Art Project, an international network supporting feminist artists and scholarship.
As both an artist and curator, Brodsky has organised more than 100 exhibitions and her prints are held in over 50 major public collections worldwide, including the Library of Congress, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Harvard Art Museums. She is also the author of numerous publications on feminist art and printmaking, including Dismantling the Patriarchy Bit by Bit (2022), a landmark study of feminist artists working with digital technologies.
